Stevenage have signed forward, Aaron Pressley from Brentford on a permanent transfer.
Pressley’s decision to join Stevenage comes after three-and-a-half years with Brentford’s B team, where he has played a key role up front and was their top goalscorer in 2020-21 season with 19 goals.
Pressley also made three senior appearances during that season of which two appearances came against Rotherham and Nottingham Forest in the Championship, whilst he also featured in the Bees’ Fourth Round defeat to eventual champions – Leicester.
The 21 year-old also enjoyed loan spells with AFC Wimbledon and Accrington Stanley in the last two seasons, across which he scored eight goals in 54 appearances in total.
His performances for Accrington who were releagted from League One at the conclusion of last season however caught Stevenage’s eye, with the newly-promoted third-tier club swooping to sign Pressley on a two-year deal with option for a further season.
Brentford though have received an undisclosed agreed compensation fee from Stevenage for Pressley.
Speaking about Pressley’s departure, Brentford B’s Head Coach, Neil MacFarlane described the young forward as an “outstanding” player, who “… proved a real presence at the top end of the pitch and he’s scored a number of goals for us.
“He’s been out on loan with Wimbledon and Accrington where he’s proved he can score goals in the league and he now finds himself back in League One.”
MacFarlane also paid tribute to Pressley for his professionalism throughout his time at the club, as he explained: “Aaron is a fantastic professional who is so dedicated, and we feel he can have a really good career.
“He has an amazing attitude and desire for the game and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone at Brentford.”
