Five English Football stars have been named in the USA squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Crystal Palace’s Chris Richards and Fulham’s Antonee Robinson have been selected in ex Tottenham and Chelsea manager – Mauricio Pochettino’s defensive selection, alongside Celtic’s Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double-winner – Auston Trusty who previously played for Arsenal, Birmingham and Sheffield United.
Ex Fulham defender, Tim Ream is also named in the ten-men defensive selection.
Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams has been included in the midfield selection after a successful season saw him help the Cherries achieve European qualification for the first time in their history.
Adams is joined in the midfield by his ex Leeds teammate, Weston McKennie, whilst Sebastian Berhalter, Gio Reyna, Cristian Roldan and Malik Tillman.
Brenden Aaronson headlines the forward selection after he netted four goals in a strong season which saw Leeds preserve their Premier League status, and reached the FA Cup Semi-Finals.
Coventry’s promotion-winning forward, Haji Wright has also been included after he delivered 18 goals in 43 appearances as the Sky Blues achieved a top-flight return after a 25-year absence.
Ex Arsenal player, Folarin Balogun is also named in the squad as is former Chelsea star – Christian Pulisic, whilst Tim Weah, Alejandro Zendejas and former Fulham target – Ricardo Pepi are too in the squad.
Ex Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace goalkeeper, Matt Turner headlines the goalkeeper selection which also includes Chris Brady and Matt Freese.
“We are confident this is the best group of 26 players to help us achieve success at the World Cup,” explained Pochettino as he reflected on the selection process, with Middlesbrough midfielder, Aidan Morris amongst those left out.
“These were very difficult decisions, and we are thankful to all the players who were part of this journey. This group is very focused and ready to give everything they have to represent the United States and deliver performances that will make the fans and the country proud.”
USA begin their campaign against Paraguay on Friday 12 June in Inglewood, California, before they face Australia in Seattle on Friday 19 June.
The tournament co-hosts – alongside Canada and Mexico – then return to Inglewood to face Turkey on Thursday 25 June in their final Group D match.
