The 19 year-old’s only success at Dortmund came in his first season at the club which saw the team win 2020-21 DFB-Pokal. beating RB Leipzig 4-1 in the Final with braces from Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.
Paying tribute to Dortmund for their support over the last three seasons, Bellingham said: “Thank you everyone associated with BVB and the fans for everything over the last 3 years. It was an honour to wear your jersey so many times whether it was in the high or low moments.
“Whilst I’m happy about my next destination I will never forget the journey I went on to get there. Einmal Borusse, immer Borusse. Best of luck for the future. Heja BVB!'”
Dortmund’s Sporting Director, Sebastian Kehl added that Bellingham had “developed very positively with us at a young age,” as he thanked the youngster for his effort whilst wishing him “all the best for the future!”
Real Madrid will officially unveil Bellingham at a ceremony on Thursday 15 June, with the midfielder unavailable for England’s UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers due to a hamstring injury, although he has been continuing his recovery with the Three Lions’ medical staff this week.
