England will face Greece in the first Qualifying Play-Off Round in their bid to reach the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses missed out on automatic qualification on the head-to-head record against Spain – having lost their penultimate group match 4-0 away in Mallorca – and will now meet Greece in the first play-off round with the first leg away then the second leg at home.
Should England win their first-round play-off tie then they will again be at home in the second leg in the second round against the winner of Slovakia’s first-round play-off against Ukraine, with the Lionesses having beat Ukraine home and away in their league phase meetings.
Republic of Ireland will face Kazakhstan in their first-round play-off tie, with the winner proceeding to meet the winner of Belgium’s play-off tie against Poland in the second round.
Northern Ireland face a difficult first-round tie against League B3 winners, Portugal, with the winner of that tie going on to face Croatia or Iceland in the second round.
Scotland will face Czech Republic in their first play-off tie after the pair finished first and second in League B4 and League B1 respectively. with the winner facing a difficult second-round test against either Lithuania or Sweden.
Wales will face Albania in the first play-off round with the first leg away before they host the second leg at home due to having been seeded in the draw, with both teams having met in the league phase which saw Wales win 1-0 away and 4-0 at home.
The winner of that tie will then face Romania or 1995 champions, Norway in the second play-off round.
The first-round ties will be played between 7-13 October 2026, with the winners from both paths advancing to the second round which is scheduled to be held between 26 November – 5 December.
Once the second round is completed, the seven highest-ranked winners will qualify automatically, whilst the lowest-ranked winner will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs.
