Burnley have signed centre-back, Jordan Beyer on a permanent tranfer from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Burnley signed Beyer on a season-long loan from Monchengladbach in September 2022 and the German defender went on to start 34 of his 35 appearances for the Clarets, in which he scored the winner against Coventry in mid-January, en-route to promotion to the Premier League.
Beyer also featured in all four matches of Burnley’s FA Cup run, which saw Vincent Kompany’s Clarets reach the Quarter-Finals, where they lost to his former team – Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Burnley have subsequently opted to activate a circa £13 million permanent transfer clause, with the 22 year-old having signed a four-year contract at Turf Moor until June 2027.
Speaking to the club website upon confirmation of his permanent transfer just under 48 hours since Burnley lifted the Sky Bet Championship title, Beyer commented: “I couldn’t be happier at the moment!
“Lifting the trophy on Monday, winning the league and now set to become a Claret on a permanent basis.
“I’ve enjoyed being here since the moment I stepped into this building. It feels like home to me.”
On what it means to keep playing at Turf Moor for the next four seasons, Beyer added: “I love playing at Turf Moor and celebrating with the fans and hopefully there is more of that to come.”
Beyer’s move brings his eight-year stint at Monchengladbach to a close, having graduated through their youth academy between 2015-18 and went on to make 36 senior appearances amidst a loan spell at Hamburger SV in early 2020.
