Nathan Tella struck a hat-trick as Burnley thrashed Hull 3-1 away at MKM Stadium to extend the Clarets’ dominant league run to 17 matches.
Sheffield Utd remain second after goals from James McAtee and Tommy Doyle secured a comeback win at Sunderland, after the Black Cats had led through Edouard Michut’s first goal for the club.
Middlesbrough slipped six points behind Paul Heckingbottom’s Blades following a 1-1 draw at home to Stoke, in which Chuba Akpom’s strike was cancelled out by Ki-Jana Hoever’s equalising goal in a tightly-fought contest
Luton remain fourth after Carlton Morris’ fourth minute winner proved enough to beat Bristol City at Kenilworth Road.
Ryan Hedges struck a 82nd minute winner for fifth-placed Blackburn Rovers in a 2-1 home win over ten-men Reading, in which Ben Brereton Diaz’s goal was cancelled out by Cesare Casadei but the Royals finished a man down after Mamadou Loum was red carded.
Second-half goals from Tom Bradshaw and Andreas Voglsammer saw Millwall round out the top six with a 2-1 home win over Swansea, despite Ryan Manning netting a consolatory goal for the Swans.

Down in the relegation zone, Wigan remain rock-bottom after Kyle McFadzean’s late own-goal saw the Latics snatch a 1-1 draw at home to Coventry, after the Sky Blues had led through Viktor Gyokeres’ header.
Huddersfield again sit second-bottom courtesy of Grant Hanley’s own goal in a 1-1 draw at home to Norwich, who had led through Gabriel Sara’s flicked strike but the Canaries finished with ten men after Marquinhos was red carded in injury-time.
Blackpool remain third-bottom but moved to within four points of safety after thrashing QPR 6-1 at Bloomfield Road, with Andy Lyons scoring twice whilst Jerry Yates, Curtis Nelson, Jordan Thorniley and Kenny Dougall were also on the scoresheet for the Tangerines.

Elsewhere, Imran Louza provided the opening goal and assisted Keinan Davis before Britt Assombalonga completed Watford’s 3-0 home win over Birmingham City, in what was Chris Wilder’s first home match in charge of the Hornets.
Tom Cannon produced a first-half goal and assist as Ched Evans snatched the winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Rotherham, in which the Millers’ Hakeem Odoffin cancelled out Cannon’s opening goal.
Finally, Sory Kaba cancelled out Daryl Dike’s 17th minute close-range volley as Cardiff snatched a 1-1 draw at home to West Brom.
