Brentford manager, Thomas Frank believes his team deserved “at least a draw” in their 1-0 defeat at Everton.

Dwight McNeil’s first minute strike proved enough to clinch a home win for Everton which ended Brentford’s unbeaten 12-match run in the Premier League.

Frank nevertheless was “very pleased” with how his team attempted to snatch a draw in a contest which he described as “a game of two halves,” before he continued: “I thought Everton were better than us in the first half, we lost the physical battle, the second balls, and we didn’t win enough duels.

“That was combined with not being on top of the ball, not finding positions well enough and not putting passes together.”

Frank however iterated that he belived his team improved throughout the second half with a “much better” performance, in which the Bees ” completely controlled them and created some massive chances.”

On whether Brentford should of got at least one point from the game, Frank said: “We should have got more out of it, at least a draw.”

Frank however praised Everton for their physicality and ability to consistently chase second balls successfully, which he described as “no surprise,” as he bemused the fact that his players didn’t handle that aspect of the game better.

The Dane went on to state that the match was decided in the first half as he added: “But, hey, that’s what they do, they do it very well and, on the day, we just couldn’t cope well enough with it. It’s not that it was a disaster, but we could have done better in the first half.

“But they did the same to Arsenal, Leeds and Aston Villa and were quite successful with it.”

Fullback, Aaron Hickey echoed Frank’s sentiment that the Bees deserved at least a draw but admitted that he knew “it was going to be a tough game” at Goodison Park, with the players left “disappointed” despite having enjoyed a positive run in recent months.

Brentford are next in action on Wednesday 15 March as they head to Southampton in a rearranged clash where Hickey expects a response, as he commented: “We’ve got to learn from the game, stay strong and push onto the next one.”
