18 year-old Spanish driver, Mari Boya has joined MP Motorsport for 2023 FIA F3 season.

Boya will step up with a familar team in MP Motorsport, having previously driven for the Dutch team in 2020 Spanish F4 – in a season where he finished as runner-up.

He then reunited with the team mid-way through the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA), in a season which he finished 10th overall after having driven the first six rounds for ART GP.

Boya then stepped into MP’s F3 car for the post-season test in Jerez, where he improved across all three days of running, with an eventual 10th placed finish on the final day of the test.

“It’s a great feeling to know that this winter I will be gearing up for a vital next step in my career, moving up to FIA Formula 3 with MP Motorsport”, commented Boya on his graduation to the third-tier of single-seater racing.

On teaming up with MP Motorsport for a third season in a third different series, Boya added: “It’s so good to be able to do that together with MP.

Having worked so well with the team in 2020 and in recent months, I had no doubts in signing with them for my FIA F3 debut. I’m really looking forward to racing in front of all the Grand Prix teams, and can’t wait for the first round in Bahrain!”

MP Motorsport’s Team Principal, Sander Dorsman added that he is “very pleased” to welcome Boya to F3, despite knowing him well from Spanish F4 and FRECA as they hailed him as a “truly outstanding,” driver.

On what will be expected of Boya this season, Dorsman added: “He already showed much promise during the post-season tests. Now we are eager to use that as a platform to set him up for the strongest possible rookie year in FIA F3.”
