Alvechurch and South Shields were amongst six seventh-tier clubs looking to spring surprises as the First Round of this season’s FA Cup took place, with League One and League Two clubs having entered the fray in a round full of surprises and cupsets.
Now, here is a full breakdown of how every tie unfolded from Non League clashes against EFL clubs and all Non–League plus EFL clashes.
Non League vs EFL

Danny Waldron’s brace saw seventh-tier Alvechurch stun League One’s Cheltenham Town 2-1 away at Whaddon Road, despite Ryan Jackson’s 54th minute consolatory goal for the hosts.

League Two’s Stevenage avoided a shock FA Cup exit after they prevailed 3-2 at fifth-tier’s Gateshead with Luke Norris’ 72nd minute winner despite Jordan Roberts’ red card, after the Heed had fought back to make it 2-2 in the 62nd minute from 2-0 down.
Goals from Andrew Dallas and Joseph Sbarra twice saw Solihull Moors fight back to snatch a 2-2 draw at home to League Two’s Hartlepool United, before losing the replay 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Victoria Park.
Connor Whickham’s brace saw Forest Green Rovers saw another shock First Round exit on the trot, as the League One Club scrapped to a 2-0 win away at South Shields.
Colby Bishop produced a goal and assist as Portsmouth fought back to defeat sixth-tier Hereford 3-1 at Edgar Street, as the Non League club paid tribute to their former FA Cup icon, Ronnie Radford following his death last week.
Bracknell’s FA Cup journey ended with a 3-0 home loss to League One’s Ipswich Town through goals from Freddie Ladapo and Panutche Camara, after having taken the lead through Dan Bayliss’ own goal.

Late goals from Michael Fernandes and Francis Amartey saw National League South’s Farnborough defeat League Two’s Sutton United at Gander Green Lane.
Gold Omotayo headed in a 83rd minute winner to send King’s Lynn Town to a shock victory at League Two’s Doncaster Rovers.
Jack Payne”s brace fired Charlton Athletic to a comfortable 4-1 home win over seventh-tier Coalville Town at The Valley.
Conor Grant’s brace fired MK Dons to a ruthless 6-0 win at home to Taunton Town, with Dawson Devoy, Will Grigg, Darragh Burns and Mohamed Elsa also on the scoresheet.
Paddy Lane’s brace and Lewis Warrington’s opening goal fired Fleetwood Town to a 3-1 home win against sixth-tier Oxford City.
Seventh-tier Needham Market suffered a 2-0 defeat at League One’s Burton Albion as Abdul-Yussuf Oshilaja and Joe Powell netted for the Brewsters.
Goals from Jordan Shipley and Luke Leahy fired Shrewsbury to a 2-1 win over National League’s York City.
Non League vs Non League

Boreham Wood thrashed Eastleigh 3-1 at Meadow Par as George Broadbent, Lee Ndiovu and Zak Brunt netted for the hosts in an all National League clash, despite Charlie Carter netting an eventual 17th minute consolatory goal to halve the deficit when initially 2-0 down.
Joshua Walker struck a 81st minute winner as Dagenham & Redbridge scraped victory at Maidenhead United in an all National League encounter.
Rakish Bingham’s 52nd minute strike fired Ebbsfleet United to a 2-1 home win against Halifax Town, having seen Toby Edser’s opening goal cancelled out by Jamie Cooke.
Diego De Girolamo and Jason Gilchrist netted in a 2-0 victory as Buxton comfortably dispatched seventh-tier Merthyr Town, to reach the Second Round for a second consecutive season.
Charlie Ruff’s injury-time goal cancelled out Ben Wynter’s effort as Chelmsford City fought back to hold Barnet to a 1-1 draw at The Hive, and in turn secure a home replay which they lost 1-0.
Paul Mullins’ brace and Sam Dalby’s opener secured Wrexham a comfortable 3-0 victory against Oldham Athletic.
League One vs League Two

League One leaders, Plymouth Argyle suffered a shock 4-1 loss at League Two’s Grimsby Town, as Brendan Kiernan struck a brace in-between goals from Andrew Smith, Michee Efete and Anthony Driscoll-Glennan to complete a comeback win for the Mariners.
Shaun Whalley’s hat-trick saw Accrington Stanley thrash League Two’s Crawley Town 4-1 at Broadfield Stadium.
Archie Collins’ 89th minute winner saw Exeter City defeat League One’s Port Vale 3-2 at Vale Park, after Jevani Brown’s brace had seen the Grecians come from behind to lead 2-1 prior to Daniel Butterworth’s equaliser.
Scott Sinclair’s 65th minute goal saw League One’s Bristol Rovers avoid a cupset at home to League Two’s Rochdale.
Jacob Maddox and Isaac Hutchinson fired Walsall to a surprise 2-0 away win at League One’s Wycombe Wanderers.
League Two’s Salford City snatched a surprise goalless draw away to League One’s Peterborough United to force a replay, in which they were thrashed 3-0 at Moor Lane.

Ricardo Santos’ own goal and Adam Phillips first-half effort fired Barnsley to a 2-1 victory at Bolton Wanderers.
Goals from Josh Windass and Alex Mighten saw Sheffield Wednesday dispatch Morecambe 2-0 at Hillsborough in an all League One encounter.
League Two vs League Two
Antoni Sarcevic’s brace helped Stockport County to a 4-0 home victory over Swindon Town, with Akil Wright and Ryan Rydel also finding the net.
Goals from Jordan Gibson and Jayden Harris saw Carlisle United beat Tranmere Rovers 2-1 at Brunton Park, despite Neill Byrne’s late consolatory goal for the visitors.
