Chelsea have signed Eve Perisset on a free transfer from Bordeaux on a three-year contract until June 2025.

Perisset joined Bordeaux in June 2020 from PSG and since went on to score three goals in 44 appearances, with all three goals having been netted during 2021-22 season as Bordeaux finished sixth in Division 1 Feminine which was won by her first professional club – Lyon.

Chelsea have confirmed that Perisset on 1 July will officially become the first signing since Todd Boehly completed a consortium-led takeover, following expiration of her contract at Bordeaux and wear the number 15 shirt.

Speaking about her decision to become the first female French player to sign for Chelsea, Perisset said: “It’s a fantastic honour to join Chelsea and to be the first French female player to become a Blue! I am very thankful for the opportunity that has been given to me.”

Having spent her playing career so far in France, the 27 year-old fullback admitted that now feels the best time to explore foreign football as she continued:

“The time was right for me to make this big move to London and join the English Super League and I cannot wait to meet the team and the fans later this summer at Kingsmeadow and at the famous Stamford Bridge!”

Chelsea Women manager, Emma Hayes added that she can’t wait to welcome Perisset to Kingsmeadow with her versatile ability as she commented: “Eve brings a wealth of experience and is a versatile player who is able to play in both full-back positions and midfield.

“A tenacious defender, with her mentality and professionalism we have no doubt she will complement the group well.

“We really look forward to welcoming Eve to the team later this summer as we head into the new season.”

Perisset has also made 34 international appearances for France including appearances at 2017 UEFA Women’s Euros and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and is set to be part of the Les Bleus squad for this summer’s UEFA Women’s Euro on English soil.
