Roundup of the second in-season test of 2022 F3 season held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain.
Having ran their first in-season test at Jerez, F3 moved on to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the second in-season test as teams and drivers further bonded and developed their setup understanding.
Gregoire Saucy and Caio Collet emerged quickest across both days of running amidst relatively minimal disruption, ahead of next weekend’s trip to Imola for the second round of the season.
Now here is a full roundup of all the action across both days.
Day One

Following three days of F2 testing in Barcelona, almost every F3 driver took advantage of the laid-down rubber on a sunny day with immediate installation laps before Trident’s Zane Maloney set an early benchmark of 1m 33.926 amongst early representative laps.
David Schumacher meanwhile was called up by Charouz as a late replacement but was kept in the garage for much of the morning session, due to a seat fitting but he eventually managed eight laps before the lunch break.
Isack Hadjar and Matteo Nannini however caused two red flags during the morning session after stopping at Turn 2 and 10 respectively, whilst Gregoire Saucy set the fastest lap time of the day in-between both stoppages as he posted 1m 32.247 to go top.
France Colapinto finished second quickest overall ahead of Victor Martins, Maloney and Roman Stanek who rounded out the top five, as everyone except Schumacher posted their fastest laps of the opening day in the morning session.
A busy afternoon session saw everyone largely focused on long runs following swift exits from the pit lane as soon as the light went green, with MP Motorsport’s Alexander Smolyar topping the afternoon session with 1m 33.342 ahead of teammate, Caio Collet.
Stanek pipped Kush Maini to third by 0.376 seconds to deny MP Motorsport an one-two-three finish in the afternoon session.
Schumacher meanwhile finished 18th fastest in the afternoon session which put him 29th quickest across both sessions in the overall timesheets.

Day Two

A hectic morning session saw everyone quickly focused on practising their Qualifying simulations with Saucy setting the initial benchmark time of 1m 32.109, only for Collet to pop up with 1m 31.507 which wouldn’t be beaten throughout the day as all fastest laps were set in the morning.
No red flags during the morning session meant that Collet finished quickest ahead of MP Motorsport teammate, Alexander Smolyar by 0.317s with Colapinto rounding out the top three a further 0.024s behind in third.
All 30 drivers then focused on race simulations in the afternoon session with no disruptions as Jenzer’s William Alatalo topped the post-lunchtime running, with the Finnish driver posting the fastest lap of 1m 34.488.
