Rob Page Names 26-man Squad For 2022 FIFA World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final

Wales’ caretaker manager, Rob Page has named a 26-man squad for their 2022 FIFA World Cup Play-Off semi-final against Austria.

Page has dropped four players from his last squad in November as Danny Ward misses out in goal as Tom King is recalled for the first time since September, whilst Wayne Hennessey and Adam Davies retain their spots in Page’s goalkeeping selection.

In defence, Page has dropped St Pauli’s James Lawrence with Ethan Ampadu dropping into the defensive selection from midfield as his replacement.

Ben Cabango meanwhile is back in contention after he withdrew from the squad in November due to personal circumstances.

Sorba Thomas and Brennan Johnson meanwhile have been promoted from midfield into Wales’ attacking selection, as Tyler Roberts misses out with a hamstring injury whilst Kieffer Moore is absent with a foot injury.

Mark Harris meanwhile is back in the attacking selection after he was dropped from November’s preliminary squad selection.

Wales will host Austria at Cardiff City Stadium in their Play-Off semi-final on Thursday 24 March 2022 in a 7:45pm kick-off, with the loser set to host Scotland in a friendly on 29 March after the latter’s play-off semi-final against Ukraine was postponed earlier this month.
