Fulham remain top of the Sky Bet Championship following a mega round of action featuring 18 matches in total.
With just under two months now until the conclusion of the regular season, this matchweek saw plenty of drama as teams continued their respective fights for promotion, play-off placings and survival.
Weekend
First-half goals from Neeskens Kebano and Harry Wilson fired league leaders, Fulham to a 2-0 home win over fourth-placed Blackburn as the Cottagers extended their lead at the summit.
Emil Riis Jakobsen struck a 89th minute winner as Preston completed a 2-1 comeback win over Bournemouth, after Cameron Archer cancelled out Jamal Lowe’s opener with the visitors’ misery compounded by an injury-time red card for Adam Smith.
Bournemouth consequently slipped to third after Tom Lees’ brace plus a strike from Daniel Sinani saw Huddersfield thrash rock-bottom Peterborough 3-0 to climb to second and 11 points off Fulham.
QPR remain fifth as two goals in four minutes from Isaak Davies and Rubin Colwill saw Cardiff come from behind to win 2-1 in West London, after Andre Gray had given the hosts a 38th minute lead.
Middlesbrough round out the top six as Paddy McNair and Duncan Watmore found the net in a 2-1 win over Luton.
Down in the relegation zone, Ravel Morrison’s brace in an eventual 2-0 win at Pride Park saw Derby move above Barnsley as both teams occupy the final two relegation spots.
Reading remain just outside of the bottom three but their gap above the drop zone is now five points after suffering a home defeat against Millwall, as Jake Cooper headed in a 37th minute winner which saw the Lions rise to tenth.
Elsewhere, Ryan Yates’ injury-time header rescued Nottingham Forest a 1-1 draw at Play-Off rivals, Sheffield United who had taken the lead through Billy Sharp’s 69th minute header.
West Bromwich Albion ended their seven-match winless run as Karlan Grant’s brace fired the Baggies to victory at Hull, which marked their first win under Steve Bruce.
Michael Obafemi provided two goals and an assist as Swansea thrashed Coventry City 3-1 to dent the Sky Blues’ Play-Off dreams.
Early goals from Tahith Chong and Nico Gordon fired Birmingham City to a 2-1 win at Bristol City, despite Alex Scott scoring a 48th minute consolatory goal for the Robins.
Josh Bowler fired in a 86th minute winner as Blackpool edged their way past Stoke in a scrappy encounter at BET365 Stadium.
Midweek
Fulham further extended their lead to 14 points after ruthlessly thrashing ten-men Swansea 5-1 at the Liberty Stadium in which Neco Williams grabbed a brace, whilst Harry Wilson provided two assists as he teed up Aleksandr Mitrovic and Bobby Reid to find the net.
Bournemouth remain second after snatching a 1-1 draw at home to Peterborough who remain bottom of the table, despite having taken the lead through Jack Marriott before Ryan Christie struck back for the Cherries.
Blackburn clung onto fourth after scrapping their way to a goalless draw at home to Millwall.
Sheffield United improved to fifth as Morgan Gibbs-White provided an assist and goal in a 4-1 routing of Middlesbrough at Bramall Lane, which saw Chris Wilder’s Teesside club drop down to eighth.
Elijah Adebayo’s 38th minute winner saw Luton snatch a crucial away win at Coventry which sent Nathan Jones’ Hatters up to sixth.
Finally, Barnsley missed the chance to leapfrog Derby and reclaim 22nd in the table after Domingos Quina’s opener was cancelled out by Lewis Baker’s injury-time equaliser, as Stoke fought back for a 1-1 draw at Oakwell.
