Ralph Boschung has extended his contract with Campos for a further year which will see him race in 2022 F2 season.

Having initially driven in F2 between 2017-19 seasons for Campos, MP Motorsport and Trident, Boschung returned to the Spanish team for the final round of last season as a replacement for Jack Aitken who had been promoted to F1 with Williams as an emergency replacement for 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix.

That unexpected opportunity came just days after Boschung had signed a contract to race for Campos this season, where he has enjoyed solid success with 40 points so far and six top-six finishes in 17 races across six rounds.

Speaking about his decision to extend his contract with Campos and continuing to race in F2 next season, Boschung commented: “I want to express my gratitude and satisfaction for being able to continue with Campos Racing for the 2022 FIA Formula 2 season.

I believe in continuity and loyalty, because they are two important characteristics that define us as a team.”

Boschung also paid tribute to everyone at Campos for providing him with the opportunity to remain with the team and in F2, whilst also acknowledging his sponsors – Casa Andrea and L By Raphaëlle for their support because “this project would not be possible” without their financial backing.

Campos Sporting Director, Adrian Campos added that he is “very happy” to retain Boschung after his hard work throughout this season as the team adapted to life without team founder –  Adrian Campos Senior who suddenly passed away in January.

Campos also praised the team for being “more united than ever,” throughout this season as the team sit seventh in the teams’ championship with two rounds left in this campaign.

Looking ahead to 2022 and what is expected of not just Boschung but also the team, Campos added: “For next season we are going to demand even more and we want to follow the same upward line in terms of results.

“I want to personally thank Ralph and all the people who support him for the trust they have placed in us for one more season.”

Boschung is the second driver to confirm his F2 seat for next season after MP Motorsport confirmed earlier this month that Clement Novalak will graduate from F3 and race for the Dutch team from the final two rounds of this season onwards.
