Sky Sports will televise Chelsea’s opening match of new 2021-22 Women’s Super League season as the first broadcast selections across September and October are unveiled.
Emma Hayes’ Blues will begin their title defence away at Arsenal in a cross-London derby, as Jonas Eidevall take charge of his first competitive match in charge of the Gunners live on Sky Sports on Sunday 5 September with a 12:30pm kick-off.
Marc Skinner’s debut as Manchester United manager will kick off the new season as the Red Devils host Reading in Friday Night Football on 3 September, with the match getting underway from 7:45pm BST.
Other Sky Sports highlights throughout September and October include a mouth-watering home tie for Arsenal against Manchester City on Sunday 26 September in a 6:45pm kick-off, as the two title contenders meet early in the season.
Sky will also air Man Utd’s trip to Birmingham City in Sunday Night Football from 6:45pm on Sunday 3 October, alongside Chelsea’s home match against Leicester on Sunday 10 October at 12:30pm which forms a double-header with Arsenal’s clash against Everton at 3pm that same date.
BBC will meanwhile broadcast five clashes kicking off with Everton’s opener against Manchester City at Goodison Park on Saturday 4 September (1:30pm), which will be live on BBC One along with the Manchester derby on Saturday 9 October (1:30pm).
Everton’s trip to Chelsea on Sunday 12 September along with the Blues’ visit to Man Utd on Sunday 26 September and Aston Villa’s home tie against Arsenal on Sunday 3 October will all be broadcast on BBC Two with kick-offs confirmed for 12:30pm.
This season marks the start of a new TV deal in the United Kingdom which sees Sky replace BT as the Pay-TV partner, whilst BBC retain free-to-air coverage but promoted from Red Button to linear TV.
