Bournemouth have announced that Jack Wilshire will be released from his contract as part of various squad changes at end of this season.
Wilshire’s departure comes as his short-term contract expires in late June, with the former England midfielder having scored just twice in 17 appearances across all competitions since signing in January.
This decision now means that Wilshire is looking for a new club for a second consecutive season, having spent three months without a club after his contract at West Ham was terminated in October 2020 via ‘mutual consent’ upon agreement with the Hammers.
Junior Stanislas and Adam Smith meanwhile remain in continued talks to extend their contracts after the club respected their wishes to keep their options open across the season, having submitted new contract offers last autumn.
All three loan signings of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Rodrigo Riquelme and Shane Long will return to their respective clubs of Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Southampton, having been released from their loan deals.
Their departures come after the Cherries failed to secure instant promotion back to the Premier League following a 3-2 aggregate loss to Brentford in this season’s Championship Play-Off semi-finals.
Bournemouth have also confirmed that Nathan Moriah-Welsh, Connor Kurran-Browne, Brooklyn Genesini and Ben Greenwood are to be offered new contracts at Under-21 level, whilst Brennan Camp, Ryan Glover, Zeno Ibsen Rossi and Luke Nippard have had one-year contract extensions activated.
Eight Under-18 players have been offered a third-year scholarship, including; Matt Burgess, Josh Clarke, Tarik Gidaree, Jake Adams, Aaron Roberts, Jack Seddon, Billy Terrell and Jack Wadham.
Frank Vincent has been released after failing to impress in loan spells at Scunthorpe United and Walsall with just 16 appearances in total and zero goals.
Corey Jordan, Tyler Cordner, Dinesh Gillela, George Hunt, Keelan O’Connell, Joe Besant, Brandon Channell and Abdi Mohamed will also be released upon expiration of their contracts in late June.
Bournemouth concluded their statement by placing their thanks on record to all those who are to be released and wished every player well for their future.
