Leicester City face a must-win final day match as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the King Power Stadium.
In order to snatch a top four finish, Leicester must win and hope that at least one of Chelsea or Liverpool slip up although a point would be enough if Liverpool lose to Crystal Palace at Anfield.
Tottenham meanwhile must take victory and hope that West Ham lose elsewhere if they’re to steal sixth and the last Europa League spot, otherwise they are looking at Europa Conference league qualification at best.
Team News
Cengiz Under could return for Leicester after recovering from a hip injury which forced him to sit out Tuesday’s potentially season-defining loss at Chelsea.
Jonny Evans (heel), James Justin and Harvey Barnes (both knee) are ruled out.
Wes Morgan and Christian Fuchs could feature in what is set to be their farewell match after announcing on Friday (21 May 2021) that they are to leave the club.
Tottenham will be without Japhet Tanganga after the youngster suffered an ankle injury in Wednesday’s loss to Aston Villa.
Ben Davies (calf) remains ruled out.
Stat Attack
- Leicester have won just two of their last six meetings against Tottenham (W2, L4).
- Tottenham have claimed seven points from their last five league trips to the King Power Stadium (W2, D1, L2).
- The winning team have scored twice in each of last three meetings at the King Power Stadium.
- Kelechi Iheanacho has scored eight goals in Leicester’s last six home matches across all competitions.
- Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have produce 23 assists between them in 64 league goals this season.
Prediction
Although Leicester will be happy with their FA Cup triumph if they miss out on the top four, they need to start on the front foot because if they score first then they really need to just go and find a second to assure themselves of victory in case results elsewhere go their way.
Tottenham meanwhile just seem to be going through the motions with inconsistent performances in recent games, especially in defence which cost them on Wednesday evening so there is definitely work to do if Spurs want European football next season.
In fact if Leicester can pressurize and hustle Tottenham’s defence and clinically take their chances, I can see them winning this irrespective of what happens elsewhere because Spurs look to be lacking confidence at the minute in midfield and defence.
Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Tottenham
