Trident dominated Formula Three’s 2021 two-day in-season test at Jerez as Clement Novalak ultimately finished fastest overall across both days.
Just days after the opening round of the season in Barcelona, Spain, F3 hit the track once again at Jerez for their only in-season test which replaced the planned pre-season test around here that had been cancelled due to UK travel restrictions.
Trident however dominated all two days as they topped three of the four sessions across both days of testing, so here is a full roundup of the test.
Day One

A frantic start to the morning saw several drivers head straight out eager to begin gathering data in their quest for improvement, following an entertaining opening round in Barcelona last weekend.
MP Motorsport’s Caio Collet set the early pace until ART GP’s Juan Manuel Correa bettered his pace, until Jonny Edgar and Calan Williams both broke the 90 second barrier with Edgar going top with 1m 29.991.
Trident eventually posted the day-topping times with Jack Doohan fastest on a 1m 29.625 ahead of teammate – Clement Novalak by 0.051s, with ART GP’s Fredrik Vesti just 0.075s slower in third.
Edgar had to settle for the fourth quickest lap time ahead of Aleksandr Smolyar, Ayumu Iwasa, Williams, Collet, Pierre-Louis Chovet and Jak Crawford as the top 19 times of day one were set in the morning session.
Out of just five drivers who posted their quickest lap time in the afternoon session, Dennis Hauger was the fastest but his lap ultimately was only 20th quickest overall.
Doohan also emerged fastest in the afternoon session but 0.980s slower than his morning time, as all ten teams enjoyed a rare uninterrupted day of running with no red flags.
