With the 2021 Formula Three season drawing ever closer, here is a full roundup of the second F3 pre-season test.
This test marked a last chance for drivers to adapt to their cars and fine tune preparations at Circuit de Catalunya, coincidentally the place where this season will start in just over two weeks time.
Now, here is a full roundup encompassing both days of the two-day test as MP Motorsport’s Victor Martins dominated both days.
Day One
Rain greeted teams for much of the first morning with Caio Collet setting the initial pace on wet tyres, despite Hitech’s Roman Stanek causing a brief red flag.
Conditions however began to improve rapidly after the session resumed with teams eventually running slick tyres just before the lunch break, as Jak Crawford eventually topped the morning session with 1m 33.674 ahead of Pierre-Louis Chovet and Kaylen Fredericks.
The afternoon session however saw conditions continue to improve as the track dried up, with Frederik Vesti the first driver to better Crawford’s time ahead of MP Motorsport teammates – Caio Collet and Victory Martins sparring for the fastest time.
Martins eventually won out with a day topping 1m 31.743 ahead of Trident’s Jack Doohan as Vesti settled for the third quickest time, with Clement Novalak, Crawford, Michael Belov, Dennis Hauger, Collet and Logan Sargeant rounding out the top nine.

Day Two
With overcast clouds lingering above the track, Trident unleashed their drivers for a flurry of early fliers, with Jack Doohan finding himself quickest out of Trident’s three drivers.
Doohan however found himself bumped down the order by ART GP’s Aleksandr Smolyar who posted a 1m 31.768 to go quickest, just before Stanek caused another mid-morning stoppage like on Day One.
Nannini and Correa later caused further red flags although both did finish the day in the top ten, with the Italian finishing sixth and Correa rounding out the top ten in tenth.
Martins however was again the quickest driver of the day with a 1m 31.636 ahead of Smolyar and Doohan, as Logan Sargeant finished pre-season fourth quickest ahead of Clement Novalak to complete the top five.
There were no improvements from any driver throughout the afternoon session in which everyone focused on race simulations, although Jenzer’s Calan Williams was quickest in the post lunchtime running with a 1m 32.518.
Drivers and their teams will now prepare for the 2021 season opener which takes place in Barcelona, Spain, from 7-9 May.
