2020-21 Premier League: Week 30 – Aston Villa vs Fulham

Aston Villa welcome relegation battling Fulham to Villa Park in the third of a Super Easter Sunday quadruple header.

Victory could put Villa as high as ninth whereas Fulham will move out of the relegation zone with a win if Newcastle lose earlier on Sunday.

Jack Grealish could return for Aston Villa after missing their last six matches with a calf injury.

Kortney Hause (foot) is also set to be in contention.

Fulham could welcome Marek Rodak (finger) and Bobby Reid (knock) back into contention as Tom Cairney (knee) remains ruled out.

Stat Attack

  • Aston Villa have won just one of their last five Premier League meetings against Fulham (W1, D1, L3).
  • Fulham have won just one of their last five top-flight trips to Villa Park (W1, D2, L2).
  • Villa’s last five home league goals have come from Ollie Watkins and Bertrand Traore, with Watkins netting three goals and Traore striking twice.
  • Scott Parker’s Cottagers are unbeaten in their last eight away games (W2, D6).
  • Villa are winless in two home league games refereed by Andrew Madley this season (D1, L1).

Prediction

Villa come into this game off the back of slip in form due to Jack Grealish’ absence with a calf injury, but they do need to show more desire than we saw last time out against Tottenham because they were quite poor creatively and also defensively.

Fulham meanwhile just weren’t clinical enough in their home loss to Leeds with defensive errors costing them, so will be pleased to hit the road given their stronger away form in 2021 compared to at home.

This game therefore feels like a contest that could come down to creativity and finishing, which Villa should have the edge in with Grealish if he starts otherwise I can see a 1-1 draw coming.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 Fulham

Result: Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham
