Michael Duff has hailed his Bradford City players for showing unity in their goalless draw at home to Leyton Orient.

Bradford’s sixth clean sheet in nine League One matches left them two points behind leaders, Plymouth Argyle.

Their new manager, Michael Duff explained post match to the club website that the players displayed everything that he asked them about why they’re in the position they were, having asked them to write three descriptive words about their successes shortly after he officially took charge.

“I basically interviewed the players anonymously and individually and I asked them, ‘Why are you where you are? Why have you had the success you have had?’

“They wrote three things down on a blank piece of paper, and they mentioned the togetherness, relentless effort, spirit and running hard together; all of that played out.

“The togetherness in the squad, the togetherness in the football club and the humility are really important; there is no entitlement of thinking we are top of the league, we will just win.”

Duff proceeded to speak of his pride at his first home match in charge of the Bantams despite accidentally walking into Orient’s dugout such was the emotion.

“I was proud to walk out here; I was enjoying clapping the fans a bit too much and walked into the wrong dugout, but that probably tells you everything; I was enjoying the moment.

“Those moments do not come around very often; it is a big football club. Not many teams at this level get twenty thousand supporters through the turnstiles. I am just really proud.

“The reception when I walked out shows the supporters are with the players and they want to do well. There is a togetherness at the football club, and that is why I am really looking forward to the future.”
