Middlesbrough have announced their pre-season plans ahead of 2021-22 season, which will see Neil Warnock’s squad visit Cornwall and Devon.
This week-long summer training camp will be based in Cornwall with Boro set to face three friendlies in five days during their stay on England’s South Coast.
Middlesbrough’s first friendly will see them visit Saltash United who currently compete in the Premier Division of South West Peninsula League at the Kimberley Stadium on Monday 19 July 2021.
Boro will then travel to Tavistock AFC of the Western Premier Division at Langsford Park on Wednesday 21 July, with Tavistock playing at level nine of the FA Pyramid whereas Saltash play at level 10.
The training camp will conclude on Friday 23 July with a trip to Home Park as Neil Warnock’s Boro take on League One’s Plymouth Argyle for a second consecutive pre-season, having won 1-0 last August through Britt Assombalonga’s 33rd minute winner.
With UK Government planning to lift all Coronavirus related restrictions on 21 June, it is hoped that fans will be in attendance at these friendlies.
Speaking on these plans and his hopes that supporters have something to prepare for, Warnock said; “It always makes for a good pre-season in Cornwall when fans can come and with the restrictions on travelling aboard this summer this might give people something to look forward to”.
Warnock also described Cornwall as “a great part of the world to visit” given that it is home to various attractions from Land’s End to Eden Project just to name a few places to visit.
This trip will see Boro looking to follow in the footsteps of Warnock’s former teams, Sheffield United, QPR and Cardiff who have all previously begun pre-seasons in Cornwall before going on to win promotion come the end of those regular seasons
Middlesbrough have confirmed that ticket details will be made available in due course, depending on where the UK is in regards to the lifting of restrictions.
