2020-21 UEFA Europa League Last 32: Leicester City vs Slavia Prague

Leicester City welcome Slavia Prague to the King Power Stadium in the second leg of their Last 32 tie in 2020-21 UEFA Europa League.

Following a goalless draw in the first leg last week, Leicester need victory if the Foxes are to advance whereas Slavia Prague must win if are to progress, although a score draw would send the Czech visitors through on away goals rule.

James Maddison is ruled out for Leicester with a recurrence of a hip injury which saw the England midfielder substituted in Sunday’s Premier League win at Aston Villa.

Kelechi Iheanacho is suspended and joins James Justin, Ayoze Perez (both knee), Wes Morgan (back), Wesley Fofana (thigh) and Dennis Praet (hamstring) on the sidelines.

Slavia Prague have a near full squad available for selection except for Tomas Holes after he suffered an ankle injury in the first leg.

Stat Attack

  • Leicester drew their only previous meeting against Slavia Prague- contesting a 1-1 draw in Prague in the first leg last Thursday.
  • Slavia Prague are winless in five previous trips to England in all UEFA competitions (D1, L4).
  • Kelechi Iheanacho has scored three goals across two of his three home appearances for Leicester in the Europa League this season.
  • Slavia Prague has won just one of their four away trips in all UEFA competitions this season (W1, L3).
  • Leicester have kept a clean sheet in all three home Europa League games this season (W3).

Prediction

Leicester will definitely feel confident coming into this game given their home form in this competition this season, whilst they were absolutely brilliant in Sunday’s win at Villa in terms of proper attacking intent and energy coupled with a solid defensive display punishing spacing errors from opposition.

Slavia Prague meanwhile will certainly be fancying their chances if can push harder and punish defensive mistakes from Leicester, having produced a robust display to keep a clean sheet in the first leg.

Leicester therefore need to take their momentum from Sunday’s win and push on with a stronger attacking display, especially with Harvey Barnes looking dangerously influential in attacking midfield and in good form too which might just be enough to scrape through.

Prediction: Leicester City 1-0 Slavia Prague

Result: Leicester City 0-2 Slavia Prague (Slavia Prague wins 2-0 on aggregate)
