Everton booked their first Quarter Final spot since 2016 as they came from behind to stun Tottenham Hotspur in a pulsating nine goal thriller at Goodison Park.
Davinson Sanchez headed Spurs into a third minute lead from a corner, only for quick-fire goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison to put the Toffees ahead after 38 minutes with Glyfi Sigurdsson adding their third from the penalty spot five minutes later.
Erik Lamela then reduced Spurs’ sudden deficit to 3-2 in first half injury time before Sanchez netted his second from another corner to make it 3-3 in the 57th minute, although Richarlison blasted in 11 minutes later to restore Everton’s lead until Harry Kane’s 83rd minute header forced extra-time.
Bernard eventually rifled in the Toffees’ fifth from Sigurdsson’s 97th minute cross to seal victory as Sigurdsson provided three assists in this thriller.
Manchester City thrashed Swansea 3-1 with goals from Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus to clinch a record-breaking 15th consecutive win in all domestic competitions and set up a Quarter Final tie at Everton, despite Morgan Whittaker firing in a late consolation goal for the Swans in 77th minute.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s last-gasp 94th minute header proved enough for Leicester to squeak past Brighton & Hove Albion in a tense all Premier League clash, although Brendan Rogers’ Foxes lost James Justin to a knee injury.
Manchester United needed extra time to scrape past West Ham in a scrappy encounter at Old Trafford, as Scott McTominay blasted in from Marcus Rashford’s outside foot flick to clinch a 97th minute winner on the counter-attack to book a trip to Leicester in the last eight.
Bournemouth reached their first Quarter Final since the 1956-57 season after Sam Sturridge’s strike and Junior Stanislas’ penalty secured victory at Burnley, representing the Cherries’ first FA Cup win over Sean Dyche’s Clarets who had won all three previous ties in this cup competition.
Second half goals from Danny Ings and Stuart Armstrong secured Southampton a 2-0 victory at fellow Premier League opposition – Wolverhampton Wanderers, which earned Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints a South Coast derby in the Quarter Finals away at Bournemouth.
Tammy Abraham tapped in a 64th minute winner from Reece James’ low cross to gift Chelsea victory over Barnsley in a nervy encounter at Oakwell.
Finally, Bristol City’s Alfie Mawson was red carded for handballing David McGoldrick’s shot with Billy Sharp dispatching the resulting penalty to send Sheffield United through to the last eight, where they will visit Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
