Leicester City welcome Brighton to the King Power Stadium in a Fifth Round encounter between two Premier League teams, as they battle for a Quarter Final spot in 2020-21 FA Cup.
Leicester are looking to reach a third Quarter Final in four seasons, whereas Brighton are looking for a second Quarter Final appearance in three seasons.
Team News
Wilfred Ndidi could return for Leicester after spending the Foxes’ last three games on the sidelines as a result of a hamstring injury.
Wes Morgan (back), Wesley Fofana, Timothy Castagne (both thigh) and Dennis Praet (hamstring) are still absent.
Brighton could welcome Davy Propper back from a groin injury which saw him miss Saturday’s draw at Burnley.
Alireza Jahanbakhsh (ankle) could also return but Adam Webster (ankle) is a doubt and could join Tariq Lamptey (hamstring), Florian Andone, Solly March (both knee) and Jason Steele (undisclosed) on sidelines.
Stat Attack
- Leicester lost their only previous FA Cup clash against Brighton, losing 2-1 in Third Round of 1930-31 FA Cup.
- Brighton are winless in their last four trips to Leicester in all competitions (D1, L3).
- Foxes’ Jamie Vardy has scored five goals in Leicester’s last six meetings against Brighton.
- Brighton have lost three of last five FA Cup clashes against top flight opposition (W2, L3).
- Leicester have avoided defeat in two of last five clashes against fellow Premier League opposition, needing a replay in one of last four such ties (W1, D1, L3).
Prediction
Leicester will be relieved to have Brighton at home given their form in this fixture after a physical trip to Wolves on Sunday, because their fullbacks should have an easier time here although Brighton are currently in good attacking form.
Brighton however will need to come out and play more attacking football than they did at Burnley on Saturday, although their defending was fantastic and were unlucky to not walk away with a win.
Brendan Rogers however is likely to have one eye on Saturday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool so I am expecting them to edge through, even if means extra time.
Prediction: Leicester 1-0 Brighton (AET)
Result: Leicester 1-0 Brighton
