Ido Cohen Joins Carlin for 2021 F3 Season

Ido Cohen has signed to race for Carlin in the 2021 Formula Three season.

Cohen is making the step up from EuroFormula where he finished seventh overall in 2020 for Carlin, with a highest finish of second in the second of a three race round at Spa Francorchamps.

Speaking on remaining part of the team as he graduates into F3 despite feeling it will be a tough season, Cohen said: “I’m pleased to be remaining within the Carlin family and taking this step up to FIA Formula Three.

“I know it’s going to be a challenge, but I feel I have the right people around me to push hard in the championship this season.”

Cohen drove at five of the seven tracks set to feature in the upcoming F3 campaign during his time in EuroFormula, yet believes that it will be ‘great to be going to new circuits’ as he visits Zandvoort and Circuit of the Americas for the first time.

Carlin Team Principal, Trevor Carlin is ‘delighted’ to retain Cohen for this season as he steps up to F3 and is confident that the Israelian driver can improve further, adding: “Ido really applied himself last season; he worked very hard and delivered some great results in the EuroFormula Open car.”

Carlin however is wary of how difficult the 30 car F3 series will be but is confident that Cohen could push for further progress, saying: FIA F3 is a very tough championship but I know if he applies the same methods he can be pushing for some good results again in 2021.”

Cohen’s arrival comes after he participated in four days of post-season testing for Carlin at the end of 2020, with the youngster partnering Red Bull backed Jonny Edgar and a yet to be announced third driver for the upcoming season as F3 introduces a new three-race weekend format.
