2020-21 Premier League: Week Five – Leicester vs Aston Villa

Leicester City brings Super Sunday to a conclusion as they welcome Midlands rivals, Aston Villa to the King Power Stadium in Sunday Night Football.

Both teams enter this match locked on nine points meaning that whoever wins will go second, although a draw would see Villa claim second whilst Leicester’s top four position would depend on how Tottenham fare against West Ham earlier in day.

Jamie Vardy is a doubt for Leicester after suffering a calf injury during the international break as Brendan Rogers’ Foxes are hit with a injury crisis.

Jonny Evans (abdominal), Dennis Praet (knee) and Wes Morgan (back) are also doubts but James Maddison is available after recovering from a calf issue which kept him out of the Foxes’ first league defeat of season against West Ham a fortnight ago.

Ricardo Pereira (knee), Daniel Amartey (hamstring), Caglar Soyuncu (leg) and Wilfred Ndidi (adductor) are ruled out indefinitely whilst Filip Benkovic has joined Cardiff on loan for rest of season.

Villa could welcome Bjorn Engels back from a lengthy Achilles injury whilst Kortney Hause is a doubt after suffering a knock during the international break.

Tom Heaton and Wesley remain absent with knee injuries.

Stat Attack

  • Leicester are unbeaten in their last five league meetings against Aston Villa (W4, D1).
  • Villa have won just two of their last eight trips to the King Power Stadium in all competitions (W2, D3, L3).
  • Villa are yet to be awarded a penalty against Leicester after 22 previous Premier League meetings.
  • Ayoze Perez and Dennis Praet are the only Leicester players to have been substituted more than once in the league this season, with both players being benched on three occasions after starting matches.
  • Ollie Watkins has missed just one of his four shots on target in the league this season for Aston Villa.

Prediction

Having suffered a shock defeat against West Ham just before the international break, Leicester really could of done without several players struggling with various injuries ahead of this clash against a vastly improved Villa team.

Speaking of Villa, they were just simply stunning in their 7-2 win over Liverpool and will be coming into this match high on confidence, which stands them in good stead because Leicester will certainly come at them looking to put the Villains under constant pressure defensively.

Fans who opt to pay £14.95 for this match will certainly be in for a cracker here because whatever happens, there will surely be goals and given Leicester’s worrying team news – particularly in defence, I am going for an away win if Villa turn up and deliver another attacking performance.

Prediction: Leicester City 1-2 Aston Villa

Result: Leicester City 0-1 Aston Villa
