2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week 44 – Wednesday

Brentford face a tough test of their automatic promotion bid as they welcome play-off chasing Preston North End to Griffin Park.

Victory for Brentford will put them a point behind second-placed West Brom with just two matches left, whilst Preston can potentially go seventh with a win.

Shandon Baptiste is a doubt for Brentford with a knock which kept him out at the weekend

Sergi Canos could be named on the bench as he continues to adapt back into a matchday environment after a long knee injury, of which continues to keep Nikos Karelis sidelined.

Preston will be without Ben Davies who is unlikely to feature again this season due to a hamstring injury.

Ben Pearson (knee) and Alan Browne (calf) are both doubts but will be handed fitness tests.

Prediction

This is a must-win for both teams because defeat here would most likely cost Brentford a shot at automatic promotion, whereas Preston simply have to win to keep their play-off hopes alive.

I therefore can see a good game here because Preston will make it difficult for Brentford, although it is hard to not see Thomas Frank’s Bees somehow winning this by hook or crook given their brilliant post-lockdown form.

Prediction: Brentford 2-1 Preston North End

Result: Brentford 1-0 Preston North End
