2020-21 Sky Bet Championship: Week Four – Sunday

Brentford welcome Preston North End to the Brentford Community Stadium in Sunday’s big Sky Bet Championship clash.

Victory will send the Bees seventh whilst Preston could climb as 13th and potentially leapfrog Brentford with a win depending on their margin of victory, although a 2-0 result would see the Lancashire club claim 13th by virtue of head-to-head result of winning this clash.

Rico Henry is a doubt for Brentford after suffering a hamstring injury in the Bees’ 1-1 away draw at Millwall last weekend, which kept him out of Thursday’s Carabao Cup win over Fulham.

Preston will be without Tom Barkhuizen who is suspended after his red card in the home defeat against Stoke last weekend, although his ban has been reduced from three matches to one match on appeal.

Louis Moult (knee) and Darnell Fisher (hamstring) are both ruled out whilst Josh Earl (fitness) and Daniel Johnson (groin) are doubts, with Earl having recently self-isolated after finding himself in contact with someone who had Coronavirus symptoms.

Stat Attack

  • Brentford are unbeaten in three of their last five meetings against Preston (W2, D1, L2).
  • Preston are winless in their last seven trips to Brentford (D1, L7), although this is their first trip to the new Brentford Community Stadium.
  • Marcus Forss has scored once in each of his last three Brentford appearances this season in all competitions.

Prediction

Brentford have quickly found their stride with some strong attacking performances in recent games even if their defending needs to be more tighter at times, especially against a Preston team who have struggled at home this season yet have been strong when away from Deepdale.

Thomas Frank’s Bees therefore should be wary of the Lilywhites’ attacking threat here but if Said Benrahma starts and they can produce another clinical performance, I can’t see past a home win.

Prediction: Brentford 2-0 Preston North End

Result: Brentford 2-4 Preston North End
