2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week 22 – Saturday

Play-Off chasing Brentford welcome Fulham to Griffin Park in a blockbuster West London derby.

Brentford will enter the Play-Offs and leapfrog Fulham with victory whilst the Cottagers will remain in the top six with at least a point.

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns as Joel Valencia continues to recover from a dislocated shoulder.

Sergi Canos and Nikos Karelis are out with knee injuries whilst Josh Clarke is still sidelined with an undisclosed injury.

Fulham will be without Denis Odoi as he begins a three match ban after being sent off at Preston in midweek.

Steven Sessegnon and Tom Cairney could also feature after illness kept the pair out of the Cottagers’ midweek defeat.

Harry Arter (calf), Bobby Reid, Maxime Le Marchand and Harrison Reed are all unlikely to feature.

Stat Attack

  • Brentford have lost just one of their last five meetings with Fulham (W2, D2, L1).
  • Two of their last three meetings have finished 1-1 but both draws came at Craven Cottage, with Brentford winning 3-1 at home in December 2017.
  • Fulham have lost two of four previous trips to Griffin Park during the month of December (W1, D1, L2).

Prediction

With both teams pushing for promotion, neither team cannot afford to drop points at this stage of the season so this West London derby could well be a cracker.

Brentford are currently in excellent home form which is definitely bound to be an issue for Fulham, who have worryingly lost their defensive edge in recent games which isn’t a good situation to be in against a team like Brentford.

I therefore can see both teams going for it but if recent home performances are a sign, Brentford should just about have the edge.

Prediction: Brentford 2-1 Fulham

Result: Brentford 1-0 Fulham
