2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week 34 Roundup

West Bromwich Albion remain atop of the Sky Bet Championship as the promotion and relegation battles continue to twist and turn throughout the table. 

Callum Robinson put the Baggies against at Bristol City before Hal Robson-Kanu netted a brace with goals either side of half time, despite Romaine Sawyers getting sent off for violent conduct against Jamie Paterson.

Leeds remain four points behind in second after Pablo Hernandez fired in an early second half winner against Reading.

Fulham remain third but are now five points behind Leeds after Aleksandar Mitrovic rescued them a point at Derby, after initially falling behind to Wayne Rooney’s penalty following a handball by Tim Ream. 

Brentford came from two goals down to snatch a point against Blackburn at Griffin Park to keep themselves in fourth, ahead of Nottingham Forest who were held to a goalless home draw by QPR. 

Preston came from behind through Paul Gallagher and Alan Browne to round out the top six, overturning Mallik Wilks’ opener for Hull at Deepdale.

Down in the relegation zone, Luton slipped to rock-bottom after Lyle Taylor’s brace helped Charlton to a 3-1 win at The Valley. 

Conor Chaplin netted his 12th goal of the season to help Barnsley snatch a huge home win over Middlesbrough, who now sit just four points above the Tykes. 

Wigan meanwhile sit third bottom and two points from safety after Millwall’s Shaun Hutchinson turned Jamal Lowe’s cross into his own net to give the Latics a first win in four games. 

Hogan
Scott Hogan snatched a late point for Birmingham City in a six goal thriller against Sheffield Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Scott Hogan’s injury time header rescued Birmingham a point in a 3-3 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday, after Jacob Murphy had looked to have won it for the Owls midway through the second half to redeem his sixth minute own goal opener. 

Late goals from Jay Fulton and Jordan Garrick earned Swansea a 3-1 win over Huddersfield, who had initially cancelled out Andre Ayew’s opener through Steve Mounie’s close range strike. 

Finally, Stoke defeated Cardiff through a 25th minute own goal from Callum Paterson before Joe Allen added a second for the Potters, lashing in on the rebound midway through the second half from Tyrese Campbell’s blocked shot.
