Liverpool look to close in on their first Premier League title as they welcome West Ham United to Anfield in Monday Night Football.
A home win will see Liverpool restore their 22 point lead over Manchester City at the Prmeier League summit, whilst West Ham need at least one point to escape the relegation zone at Aston Villa’s expense.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesJordan Henderson is ruled out for Liverpool with a hamstring injury suffered in their Champions League defeat at Atletico Madrid last week.
Xherdan Shaqiri (calf), Nathaniel Clyne (knee) and Yasser Larouci (hamstring) remain sidelined indefinitely.
West Ham have no fresh injury concerns to report as Jack Wilshire (groin), Andriy Yarmolenko (thigh) and Ryan Fredericks (shoulder) all remain sidelined.
Form
Liverpool enter this match unbeaten in their last 17 league games, whilst conceding just once in their last six outings which came away at Wolves last month.
West Ham come into this game with just two points from their last six league matches (D2, L4), although they are have won just one of their last five away trips.
Stat Attack
- Liverpool are unbeaten in their last seven meetings against West Ham (W5, D2).
- The Reds have scored four goals in each of their last two home games against the Hammers at Anfield, with Sadio Mane scoring three goals across those two outings.
- West Ham have won just one of their 23 previous Premier League trips to Anfield (W1, D6, L16).
- No player has had more shots than Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah who has produced 89 shots so far this season.
- Angelo Ogbonna has produced 19 blocks for West Ham this season, more than any other Hammers player.
Prediction
After tasting a win and defeat by single goal margins in their last two games, Liverpool really need to hit back here if want to shut down fears of a potential slump and do so with a good performance.
West Ham meanwhile seem to be in freefall again and it’s very difficult to see where they can hurt Liverpool, because they seem to lack performance in every area at present to even pose any kind of threat in matches.
Throw in the Hammers’ woeful record at Anfield then I can see just a comfortable win for Liverpool here if they are at their attacking best.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 West Ham United
Result: Liverpool 3-2 West Ham United
