Manchester United welcome relegation battling Watford to Old Trafford in a huge Super Sunday clash, affecting both ends of the Premier League table.
Man Utd can climb to fifth with victory whilst Watford will move up three positions into 16th if they can take a surprise win here.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesScott McTominay is expected to return for Manchester United after two months out with a knee injury.
Mason Greenwood (illness) is also set to be in contention but Axel Tuanzebe (thigh) and Timothy Fosu-Mensah (knee) are unlikely to be fit for this match.
Lee Grant (unspecified), Paul Pogba (foot) and Marcus Rashford (back) are all ruled out.
Watford could have Kiko Femenia and Ismaila Sarr available after missing the last month with respective hamstring injuries.
Tom Cleverley (fitness) is also expected to be in contention but Daryl Janmaat is still sidelined with a knee injury.
Form
Man Utd have taken just six points from their last six league matches (W2, D1, L3), whilst failing score in their last two home outings after netting four goals in each of their previous two beforehand against Newcastle and Norwich respectively.
Watford are winless in their last four (D2, L2) despite winning their previous three beforehand, although they have scored in each of their last four away trips.
Stat Attack
- Manchester United have lost just one of their last six meetings against Watford (W5, L1).
- Anthony Martial has scored in each of his last two home appearances for Utd against Watford.
- Watford have never done the league double over Man Utd.
- Neither first choice goalkeeper for both teams have saved a penalty this season, despite facing six penalties in total between them.
- Both teams have had two red cards dished out in 13 previous Premier League meetings.
Prediction
Man Utd this week might of been under the cosh but they dug in to take a clinical win against Chelsea, before scraping a draw at Club Brugge but they do need to start well here because Watford can be a difficult team at times under Nigel Pearson.
The Hornets will of also benefitted from a two week rest which will benefit them against Utd who will again need to rotate their squad, especially if they can start as quickly as they did last time out at Brighton.
I therefore am expecting to see a good tactical game here between two attacking teams who aren’t exactly solid in defence, but Watford have often struggled here so am going for a home win.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Watford
Result: Manchester United 3-0 Watford
