2019-20 Premier League: Week 10 Roundup

Liverpool continue to lead the way after an action packed weekend throughout the Premier League, featuring a record-breaking result.

Having dropped points last weekend, Liverpool instantly faced another setback after Harry Kane’s first-minute header gave Tottenham an early lead, only for a second-half strike from Jordan Henderson then a Mohamed Salah penalty to overturn that lead into a Reds win.

Liverpool however stay six points clear of Manchester City after the Citizens thrashed Aston Villa in a 3-0 win, whilst Leicester stay third after taking the biggest away win in Premier League history at Southampton after thrashing them in a 9-0 thumping.

A disastrous start by the Saints saw Ryan Bertrand red-carded by VAR for a reckless challenge on Ayoze Perez in lead up to Ben Chilwell’s opener for Leicester after firing in Harvey Barnes’ deflected shot, although Bertrand’s dismissal wasn’t clarified by VAR until after the goal was scored. 

Youri Tielemans and Jamie Vardy then completed the first-half rout either side of Perez’s brace to leave the Foxes five goals to the good. 

Perez then got his hat-trick from a 57th minute close range strike before Vardy then completed his own hat-trick either side of James Maddison’ stunning free-kick as Leicester took a record-breaking Premier League away win

Christian Pulisic meanwhile clinched his career first hat-trick as Chelsea battered Burnley in a 4-2 away win to stay fourth, whilst Arsenal blew a two goal lead to draw with Crystal Palace in fifth and sixth respectively. 

Down at the bottom, Watford stay rock-bottom after a goalless home draw with Bournemouth. 

Norwich meanwhile stay in 19th after losing 3-1 at home to Manchester United in which goal scorers, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial had penalties saved by Tim Krul.

Elsewhere, Brighton saw off Everton in a crazy five goal thriller which was settled by Lucas Digne bundling a 94th minute cross from Leandro Trossard into his own net. 

Newcastle sit just a point above the drop after Jamaal Lascelles’ first-half header got cancelled out by a 72nd minute volley from Jonny, before Sean Longstaff got sent off for a high tackle on Ruben Neves. 

Finally, Lys Mousset rescued a point for Sheffield United to cancel out Robert Snodgrass’ opener in a 1-1 draw with West Ham.
