After a difficult month, Tottenham Hotspur look to get back to winning ways as they welcome Red Star Belgrade to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Just two points separate these two teams entering this tie and Spurs must win to leapfrog their rivals into second place in Group B, otherwise their Champions League dreams could look all but over.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesChristian Eriksen could be in contention to start for Tottenham after missing Saturday’s draw with Watford, with a dead leg picked up on international duty with Denmark.
Hugo Lloris (elbow), Giovani Lo Celso (hip) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) remain sidelined.
Red Star Belgrade might be without striker, Richmond Boakye due to a calf injury which has sidelined him for their last two matches.
Branko Jovicic (knee) and Milan Gajic (undisclosed) are also ruled out of this clash for the Serbian team.
Ex Huddersfield winger, Rajiv van La Parra meanwhile is pushing for a recall after being rested at the weekend against Rad.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham have won and lost one apiece from two meetings, which came in the Last 16 stage of the 1972-73 UEFA Cup (W1, L1).
- Tottenham have won just one of their last six Champions League games (W1, D1, L4).
- Red Star Belgrade are winless in their five away European games this season (D3, L2).
Prediction
This is an absolute must win for Tottenham because if they lose this then serious questions has to be asked of the squad’s mentality, because Mauricio Pochettino has done a great job to get them challenging for titles yet they can’t mount serious bids.
Red Star however lack that winning touch when on the road in Europe although they can dig out draws, which definitely might be enough against this weak Spurs team although I am going for a tight home win.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Red Star Belgrade
Result: Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 Red Star Belgrade
