2026-27 Sky Bet Championship: Week 14 – Wednesday

Wrexham look to end their rut against high-flying Middlesbrough in a Championship clash at the STOK Racecourse Ground.

If Cardiff lose to West Ham, victory would lift Wrexham up to 16th, whilst Middlesbrough can extend their title lead to five points with a win.

Team News

Sam Smith is ruled out for Wrexham after he suffered a knee injury during their 1-0 loss at Sheffield United.

Liberato Cacace (calf), Nathan Broadhead (thigh), Callum O’Hare and Josh Windass (both ankle) remain absent.

Middlesbrough will have Will Lankshear available after the forward was substituted in their 3-0 win over Charlton due to cramp.

Rokas Puktas (hamstring) and Alfie Jones (calf) are still sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Wrexham host Middlesbrough at STOK Racecourse Ground on Wednesday 4 November at 7:45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Wrexham have drawn both of their two previous league meetings against Middlesbrough which came last season (D2), having drawn 1-1 on Teesside in October 2025 then 2-2 at home in May 2026.
  • Middlesbrough are yet to win at Wrexham in all competitions (D1, L2).
  • Kieffer Moore has scored in each of Wrexham’s last three matches at home (W2, L1).
  • Will Lankshear has scored seven goals in his last five appearances for Middlesbrough (W4, D1).

Prediction

Having matched Sheffield Utd in a scrappy clash on Friday night, Wrexham simply lacked a clinical final touch and Smith’s injury isn’t ideal for them as they’re now flirting with relegation and need to tighten their defence up.

Middlesbrough on the other hand are full of confidence and clinically dispatched Charlton without facing a shot on target against them on Halloween, but this fixture is a bogey for them with no wins in three previous trips but this is the ideal time to break that rut such is their form.

Although Wrexham certainly will put up a tough fight, I just feel that Middlesbrough will be too strong.

Prediction: Wrexham 1-2 Middlesbrough
