Nottingham Forest however split the pair in ninth after losing 2-0 at Stoke after goals from Peter Etebo and Benfik Afobe.
Finally, Brentford emerged victorious in the West London derby with a 3-0 win over QPR. to leave them as one of eight teams just behind seventh-placed Derby with five points the gap between all nine teams.
