Tottenham Hotspur head to Signal Iduna Park looking to book a place in the Champions League last eight, but must overcome Borussia Dortmund first.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men lead 3-0 from the first leg but Dortmund are unbeaten at home this season, giving them very faint hopes of progressing to the last eight if win here.
Team news
Marco Reus could feature for Borussia Dortmund after playing a hour at weekend against Augsburg, following a recent thigh issue.
Christian Pulisic is also available, having picked up a thigh injury in the first leg but Marcel Schmelzer faces a late fitness test after recovering from a foot injury.
Lukasz Piszczek remains out with a foot injury and is Dortmund’s only absentee.
Tottenham could have Eric Dier available after recovering from tonsillitis whilst Harry Winks is in contention following a hip injury.
Dele Alli however is a doubt as he continues to battle a thigh injury.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham have won their last three meetings with Borussia Dortmund, including the first leg last month.
- In two previous trips to Dortmund, Spurs have won and lost one apiece.
- From three previous appearances at this stage (first round in 1961-62 European Cup, Spurs are yet to win a second leg after claiming two draws plus one defeat.
- Mario Gotze has scored in Dortmund’s last three home games across all competitions, with two of his three goals coming in second-half.
- Seven of Tottenham’s last seven goals in this competition have come from six different players, with Harry Kane the only one to score twice.
Prediction
After a rough week, victory here would provide Spurs with a real confidence boost ahead of Southampton at weekend.
Dortmund however are yet to suffer a home loss this season but need to go for it here to at least take this to extra time.
Three goals however is a huge ask and I can see a score draw if Tottenham turn up and produce a strong defensive performance.
Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur
