2026-27 Premier League: Week Eight – Chelsea vs Tottenham

Top-four chasing Chelsea meet relegation-battling Tottenham in a huge Premier League showdown.

Victory will see Chelsea stay fourth in the table, whilst Tottenham can move as high as tenth with a win.

Team News

Emiliano Martinez is ruled out for Chelsea after he needed surgery on a fractured jaw suffered in their 2-0 win at Everton.

Pep Chavarria (knock) and Malo Gusto (illness) face late fitness checks.

Tottenham could recall Destiny Udogie after he was rested in their 3-1 home win over Coventry due to a knee injury.

When is Kick-Off?

Chelsea host Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 24 October at 5:30pm BST, , live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Chelsea have lost just one of their last 15 league meetings against Tottenham (W12, D2, L1).
  • Tottenham are winless in their last eight league visits to Chelsea (D2, L6).
  • Chelsea have won two of their last three league meetings against Tottenham by 1-0 results, except for a 2-1 win in May 2026 at home.
  • No Chelsea player this season has registered more shots in the top flight than Cole Palmer (23).
  • No Tottenham player is yet to score more than one league goal this season.

Prediction

Now sat fourth in the table after a clinical second-half performance at Everton in which they often were frustrated by the Toffees’ resilient defence, Chelsea now have a chance to continue building momentum after two dominant wins because their attacking quality is finally clicking.

Tottenham meanwhile are coming into this game off the back of having broken their winless league duck this season with a clinical win over Coventry, yet they didn’t exactly start the second half well but showed a brilliant reaction with two goals after having conceded an equaliser.

This fixture therefore hasn’t come at an ideal time for Spurs given their poor record at Stamford Bridge in recent decades when they ideally need another win to build momentum, but I just think that Chelsea will be too strong for them so this is about limiting their loss and nicking a goal if can.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham
