2026-27 Sky Bet Championship: Week 12 – Saturday

West Ham face Southampton in a huge Championship clash in the race for promotion.

Victory could put West Ham top of the table if Swansea fail to win at QPR, whilst Southampton can climb as high as fourth with a win.

Team News

West Ham have no fresh injury concerns after their 1-0 win at Swansea last weekend, with Keiber Lamadrid closing in on a return from a knee injury.

Southampton could be without Cyle Larin after he suffered a hamstring injury during their 0-0 draw at home to Bolton.

Flynn Downes is also doubtful for selection due to a hamstring injury.

When is Kick-Off?

West Ham host Southampton at the London Stadium on Saturday 24 October at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • West Ham are unbeaten in their last four league meetings against Southampton (W2, D2), of which their two wins were by 1-0 results whilst both draws ended in a 1-1 result.
  • Southampton have won just one of their last seven visits to West Ham (W1, D1, L5).
  • West Ham have kept two clean sheets in five league matches at home this season.
  • Southampton have won just one of their five away league matches this season (W1, D2, L2).

Prediction

Having clinically edged past Swansea to close the gap at the top down to one point, West Ham now need to bring that same composure and patience if they’re to win this tricky home game against a strong Southampton side who can’t be underestimated.

Southampton though were wasteful at home to Bolton which isn’t ideal when they should of won that game against mid-table opposition, as they now need to dust themselves down and look to be much sharper in their end product despite their recent poor record against the Hammers.

I however do think that this will be a close battle between two teams with serious promotion ambitions but Tonda Eckert’s Saints haven’t exactly impressed on the road this season, yet I do think that they have got enough quality to snatch a point here.

Prediction: West Ham 1-1 Southampton
