2026-27 Premier League: Week Seven – Tottenham vs Coventry

Rock-bottom Tottenham face Coventry City in a massive Premier League encounter in the race for survival.

Victory would lift Tottenham off the foot of the table and as high as 15th, whilst Coventry can climb as high as 10th with a win.

Team News

Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended for Tottenham as he begins a three-match ban after he was red carded in their 1-1 draw at Manchester United.

Dejan Kulusevski (knee) and Pedro Porro (hamstring) are set to be available for selection, subject to fitness checks.

Mykhailo Mudryk (ankle), Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons (both ACL) remain sidelined.

Coventry will welcome Taiwo Awoniyi back from his three-match suspension, as manager – Frank Lampard otherwise has no fresh injury concerns following their 4-1 home win over Newcastle.

Aurele Amenda (calf), Josh Eccles (undisclosed), Luke Woolfenden (knee) and Haji Wright (quad) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Tottenham host Coventry at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday 19 October at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Tottenham have lost just one of their last seven league meetings against Coventry (W3, D3, L1).
  • Coventry are making their first visit to Tottenham’s current home – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but are winless in their last four trips to Spurs albeit at their old home – White Hart Lane (D2, L2).
  • Andrew Robertson has been caught offside on more occasions than any other Tottenham player in their first six league games, having found himself offside on four occasions in five appearances.
  • No Coventry player has made more passes in the top flight this season than Matt Grimes (281).

Prediction

As the only team now without a league win after the weekend’s results, Tottenham know that this is realistically must-win if they’re to turn a corner otherwise serious questions need to be asked because they definitely are in an early-season fight for survival.

Their end product though is their biggest concern because they were just wasteful at Man Utd whenever they had spells of dominance, so they really need to be more composed and clinical if they’re to avoid embarrassment against a team many would of expected them to beat at the start of this season.

Coventry on the other hand seem to have found confidence and momentum with wins in their last two matches and absolutely outplayed Newcastle at home, even despite having been outplayed for large chunks because they were much more clinical in their gameplay.

Both teams therefore will be right up for this because if Coventry can claim a huge scalp then you have to think that they’re capable of going on a decent run between now and early December, but Tottenham can finally ignite their season if can tighten up and be clinical.

I however just have a feeling that Coventry might surprise some and nick a point.

Prediction: Tottenham 1-1 Coventry
