Bromley entertain Cambridge United in their first home match as a League One club.
Sat on three points apiece after opening weekend wins, victory could lift either Bromley or Cambridge to the summit depending on results elsewhere swinging in their favour.
Teams
Bromley manager, Andy Woodman could hand new signing, Tobias Brenan his debut following his move from Wigan in midweek.
Grant Smith (stress fracture) and Ashley Charles (cruciate/knee) remain absent.
Cambridge will be without forward, Gassan Ahadme after he missed their 3-2 win over Wigan due to a groin injury, which had kept him out of their Carabao Cup first-round victory over Barnet too.
When is Kick-Off?
Bromley host Cambridge at CopperJax Community Stadium on Saturday 22 August at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Bromley are yet to beat Cambridge in the EFL (D1, L1), having lost 2-1 away and drew 0-0 at home last season in League Two.
- Cambridge drew 0-0 in their only previous EFL trip to Bromley.
- Bromley have won each of their first league matches at home by 2-0 results in the last two seasons, as they beat AFC Wimbledon in 2024-25 then Barnet in 2025-26 campaigns respectively.
- Cambridge are winless in their last seven league visits to London-based opposition (D3, L4).
Prediction
Having battled to a gritty smash-and-grab winner at Barnsley, Bromley now can take the confidence of that gritty performance and use the home crowd’s noise as further motivation to try and get consecutive wins because they’ve got potential to be a big surprise this season.
Cambridge meanwhile were absolutely ruthless against Wigan but their boss, Neil Harris will of been concerned at how they almost blew a 3-0 lead after they conceded twice, so I expect them to had worked on their defensive control this week as they clearly got the attack right.
Nevertheless this clash does feel like it will be scrappy given that both teams were promoted from League Two at the end of last season and put on a fierce goalless draw in April, but I fancy Woodman’s Ravens to nick this if they can be more defensively solid than they were against the Tykes.
Prediction: Bromley 2-1 Cambridge
