With the new season now within sight, Arsenal will seek to defend their league title, but will face tough competition from Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United amongst others.
Coventry City meanwhile are back in the top-flight after a 25-year absence as they, Ipswich Town and Hull City look to avoid instant relegation back to the Championship.
This season has also seen a managerial revamp with just 11 clubs having retained the manager who had been in charge of their final matches of last season, meaning that nine clubs are embarking on new chapters in the dugouts as the season commences.

When will 2026-27 Premier League Season Start and Finish?
The season will start on Friday 21 August 2026 and conclude on Sunday 30 May 2027.

How does Premier League Work?
All 20 teams will play each other home and away across 38 matches, with the team collecting the most points (win – three points, draw – one point, loss – zero points) crowned champions at end of season.
The champions plus those ranked second to fourth will qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, whilst the fifth-placed team will qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
Sixth and seventh-placed teams could also qualify for European competitions next season, but only if both cup competitions are won by teams who finish in the top five in the league table.
It is theoretically possible that up to 11 teams in total could qualify for next season’s UEFA competitions – if hypothetically any of this season’s qualified teams win the title in their UEFA competitions and fail to qualify domestically, and the league secures a bonus Champions League spot.
The three teams who finish bottom of the league table will be relegated to the Championship for next season.
How to Watch Premier League in 2026-27 Season
Selected fixtures will be broadcast across TNT Sport and Sky Sports in the UK in individual slots throughout the season under a new broadcasting contract until end of 2028-29 season.
Sky will broadcast a minimum of 215 matches in total, with fixtures which are moved away from Saturday 3pm slot due to fixture scheduling issues or police-related reasons now set to be broadcast live alongside regular main picks unlike in previous contracts.
Sky’s contract also guaranteed them the first pair of four midweek rounds plus right to broadcast every final-day fixture live.
TNT will retain its current Saturday 12:30pm slot with option to flex their pick into the 8pm slot if a team is away in Europe on the preceding Wednesday, whilst the latter pair of four midweek rounds will also be broadcast live.
BBC will continue to air Free-To-Air (FTA) highlights rights encompassing all 380 matches per season again with additional digital platform rights.
