Bristol City have signed defender, Rio Cardines on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace.
Cardines’ switch to Bristol City marks his first loan move away from Palace, having made three senior appearances last season which included a win on his first-team debut in a 2-0 league-phase victory away to Dynamo Kiev in the Eagles’ title-winning UEFA Conference League campaign.
The 20-year-old full-back and wing-back is now excited to gain regular game time and try to be involved as much success as possible at Ashton Gate.
“I am really excited to get started. I know the history behind such a big club and I cannot wait to get playing.
“I want to score as many as possible, set up as many as possible and most importantly win as many games as possible.
“I have heard great things about the fanbase. I hope I can impress and am looking forward to meeting the supporters.”
Bristol City manager, Michael Skubala added: “It has been clear we need to add to the group players who can play at full back,” said Skubala. “Rio is young and hungry and will provide us with quality both defensively and going forward.”
Cardines represents Trinidad and Tobago at international level with 11 senior caps since his first-team debut in a 3-2 loss to Jamaica in May 2025.
