South Shields have signed winger, Chinonso Chibueze from Stoke City on a six-month loan until January 2027.
This move marks Chibueze’s first senior loan move after he made his professional debut in a 3-0 second-round Carabao Cup defeat against Bradford last season, which marked his only first-team appearance for the Potters.
He however has featured on the bench as an unused substitute twice for Stoke in the Championship, having first done so in a 3-1 loss to Hull City in September 2024 then more recently in a 3-3 draw at home to Ipswich in March 2026.
Stoke however have decided to send the 20-year-old out on a six-month loan to gain regular game time, with Chibueze pleased to make the move to the Mariners until January 2027.
“I’m delighted to sign for the club, as soon as I heard about the interest, I was buzzing to sign. The style of play suits me down to a tee, and I watched a lot of last season, so I know how passionate the fanbase is. I’m a fast, energetic winger who likes to get on the ball and score goals, and I can’t wait to show the fans what I can do.”
Chibueze will wear the number 22 shirt for the National League North team.
Born in Lewisham, London, Chibueze began his career at Fulham before he moved to Chelsea in 2016, where he spent eight years in their youth academy prior to his move to Stoke in 2024.
