Leeds United have signed forward, Harry Wilson on a free transfer from Fulham.
Wilson’s move came after his contract at Fulham expired on 30 June with the Welsh forward having scored 38 goals and created 36 assists in 175 appearances in a five-year spell at Craven Cottage.
The 29 year-old felt that Leeds showed the most interest when he considered his options and received a further boost his decision to sign for the club following discussions with his fellow Wales teammates, as he explained in his first interview with Leeds’ official website.
“This summer was different. When the season finished and I became a free transfer, I felt Leeds were the team that really showed the interest in me. And as a player, you want to play for a team which you feel like they want you and you feel like they are doing everything to get you.
“Speaking with the Welsh boys, I think it was pretty clear that this was the place that I wanted to come.”
Wilson has signed a four-year contract at Elland Road until June 2030 and is eager to enjoy success with his new teammates in the coming years.
“It is a massive, massive club in the Premier League where the club belongs so, yeah, really excited to join and hope to have some exciting years together. To play for Leeds, you have to have a big personality. You have to be able to deal with pressure – the demands of the club and demands of the fans. You have to be able to take the pressure and go out and perform.”
Wilson also posted a farewell message to Fulham fans on his Instagram account thanking them and the club for making him feel at “home”, in a spell which saw them win promotion to the Premier League as Championship champions in his first season then consolidating their top-flight status.
Wilson represents Wales at international level with 17 goals in 69 senior caps.
