Manchester City have agreed a £116m transfer fee with Nottingham Forest for midfielder, Elliot Anderson.
Anderson’s move comes after two seasons at Forest where he scored six goals and created 11 assists in 92 appearances across all competitions, with Forest having accepted a £116m offer from City which sees Anderson become the most expensive English player transfer in history.
It is thought that Anderson has signed a five-year contract with an option to extend for a further year.
City released a club statement confirming the transfer although the official formalities will be finalised upon Anderson’s return to the country, as he is currently away at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with England.
“Anderson, 23, is currently competing at the FIFA World Cup with England and has completed a medical in Kansas. The formalities of the move will be finalised upon his return to England.
“In the meantime, everyone at Manchester City wishes Elliot and the England squad the very best of luck in their World Cup campaign and we look forward to welcoming him to Manchester in due course. ”
Forest meanwhile iterated in their own statement that despite having struck an agreement with City, the immediate focus should remain on Anderson and England and any tribute will be made when appropriate.
“Nottingham Forest can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Manchester City for the transfer of Elliot Anderson.
“The necessary formalities will be completed in due course, allowing Elliot’s full focus to remain on representing England at the FIFA World Cup.
“The Club will pay tribute to Elliot’s outstanding contribution over the past two seasons at the appropriate time.
“Until then, everyone at Nottingham Forest wishes Elliot and the England squad every success for the remainder of the tournament.”
