Czech goalkeeper, Antonin Kinsky has signed a new five-year contract at Tottenham Hotspur until June 2031.

Kinsky’s new contract comes after a tough season in which he made 10 appearances and helped Tottenham secure Premier League survival on the final day with a 1-0 win over Everton.

The 23 year-old however experienced the humiliation in early March of being substituted after 17 minutes in their 5-2 first-leg loss at Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 in last season’s Champions League under Igor Tudor, who was subsequently sacked weeks later.

Kinsky now is looking forward to his future in North London under the backing of Tudor’s successor, Roberto De Zerbi who entrusted him between the sticks due to Guglielmo Vicario having undergone hernia surgery which had sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

“I’m so happy and I can feel the trust from the Club. When I joined 18 months ago, my expectations were to fight for my place in the team and to wear this shirt every week.

“It’s been a real journey to get here and a nice story already, and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead over the next months and years.

“Everyone around the Club feels that we can have a successful season and I want to contribute to that. We want to give the fans what they want and what this Club deserves.”

De Zerbi added that Kinsky has earned his new contract after his integral role in their top-flight survival, despite having played second-choice to Vicario for much of his time at the club prior to De Zerbi’s arrival.

“Toni was outstanding over the final seven games of the season and a key part of what we achieved in that period.

“I am delighted he has committed his future to the Club. He has earned this new contract, not only with his performances but also his professionalism and desire to improve.

“We have huge belief in what Toni can become. He is still young, has enormous potential and I know that Spurs is the perfect place for him to continue to develop into one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.”
