Brighton & Hove Albion have signed defender, Pascal Struijk from Leeds United for an undisclosed fee.
Struijk’s move to the AMEX Stadium has ended his eight-year spell at Leeds where he graduated through their youth academy to contribute 14 goals in 196 appearances, during which he helped them twice achieve promotion from Championship to Premier League.
Following confirmation of the 26 year-old’s move on a five-year contract until June 2031, Brighton Head Coach – Fabian Hurzeler explained that Struijk is amongst the players that fit his plans for the new season in terms of adding experience and is approaching their peak years in the sport.
“Pascal is exactly the sort of profile we wanted to add to the squad this summer, in that he’s got good Premier League experience and has his peak years ahead of him.
“He really showcased what he’s capable of last season – great defensive actions while comfortable on the ball – with his style well suited to ours.
“He is also a leader, having worn the captain’s armband at times for Leeds last season. He is an excellent addition to the group and I am looking forward to working with him.”
