Belgium meet Senegal in a tasty Round of 32 encounter at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Belgium booked their spot in this tie by winning Group G on goal difference from Egypt, whilst Senegal progressed as the eighth-best third-placed team after they finished third in Group I.
Team News
Nathan Ngoy is available for Belgium after he was suspended for their 5-1 win over New Zealand.
Zeno Debast remains a doubt with a leg injury, although he has resumed training but won’t be rushed back into the starting line-up.
Senegal have no fresh injury concerns after their 5-0 victory over Iraq.
When is Kick-Off?
Belgium meet Senegal at Lumen Field, Seattle, USA, on Wednesday 1 July at 1pm PDT (9pm BST), live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Belgium’s first World Cup meeting against Senegal.
- Senegal are facing Belgium for the first time in all competitions.
- Belgium’s Leandro Trossard has converted both of his two shots on target into goals.
- Three of Senegal’s seven goals in their last two matches were scored by Ismaila Sarr (W1, L1).
Prediction
Having comfortably dispatched New Zealand in a proper sign of what they’re capable of after two lacklustre opening performances, Belgium must now use that performance as a launchpad and try to bring more of that attacking quality as nobody wants another hard slog.
Senegal meanwhile were always going to comfortably dispatch a defensively weak Iraq but the size of the win will give them a real confidence boost after they lost their first two games beforehand, especially with a winnable Round of 16 tie on offer if they advance.
This clash therefore has the potential to be an entertaining game if both teams can build on their wins from last time out, but Belgium probably have more players who can make the crucial difference.
Prediction: Belgium 2-1 Senegal
Result: Belgium 3-2 (AET) Senegal
